My Rel†g†on is You

While in Southern California this past weekend, I headed to San Diego to see this:

Lady GaGa's: Monster Ball Tour. If it were a religion, I'd be converted. The show was phenomenal from start to finish and never a dull moment. Though the opening band, Semi-Precious weapons started with mediocre response and stage presence that was a bit much, when GaGa entered the stage, FANdemonium ensued. The people around me went screaming like the Jonas Brothers were on stage. The GaGa did say the wrong city, calling us "San Jose" upon which the crowd boo-ed her and kept chanting, "San Diego, San Diego." Later on she sincerely apologized stating she was told right before the show she was informed that they were in San Jose.

Each change in costume was wild, and exciting while the performance of all the songs were impeccable. The only qualm I had was the fact the bass was up way too loud. I like to think of myself as a true concert goer, phased by nothing and belonging to the music. However, during her show I could barely hear her lyrics. For being the perfectionist that I'm told she is, I was a little surprised at how much I couldn't hear her, it could've been that I was so close that my bones were shaking from the bass, and at times, during the show I felt like an epileptic from the lack of sustenance (food), the trippy graphics, and the body rattling bass....but regardless, I wouldn't have it any other way. Except maybe the hearing damaged that followed post-show and into the next day.

The choreography was on point, and she played all 8 new tracks off the Fame: Monster, all of her hits from the Fame and some that people weren't all too familiar with like my personal favorite, 'Paper Gangster.' If you get the chance to catch the Lady on her famed Monster Ball Tour, I highly recommend grabbing some tickets and going. As well, she announced the re-vamping of the tour for 2010. It'll blow your mind. Until then..."Show Me Your Teeth!"

Here are some photos that the lovely Leigh so graciously snapped of the show:

R Rated Wolf Monsters

Tomorrow, 11/23, several albums are going to be re-released. The first is Rihanna's fourth studio album "Rated R." Upon the release of her first single 'Russian Roulette' (see the sexy, dark video here.) critics and music lovers weren't that impressed, but much like the track, the album takes more than one listen to appreciate it. Upon first spin, I had some favorite tracks, but the more I listened, the more tracks I enjoyed. Key tracks include: 'Cold Case Love' where the beat and the drums make this track so great and the lyrics are insightful. 'Fire Bomb' has heavy guitar and mellow verses, but she comes in strong with the chorus which makes this track so infectious. 'Rude Boy' gives Rihanna a more provocative edge with some sensual innuendo and some other references. Rihanna truly gets Rated R on this album with some choice words and some sexual lyrics that most critics find to be RiRi trying to hard, but spin the album a couple times and find out for yourself!

The Lady known as GaGa is re-releasing her smash hit album "The Fame" with 8 new tracks on the "Fame Monster." Taking over the radio is 'Bad Romance' the banging hit, video below. As for my personal favorite 'Alejandro' also below, all 8 tracks channel the 80s and 90s dance tracks. 'Monster' is a Madonna-esque track where she boasts, "he ate my heart and he ate my brain" is asure dance hit, along with 'Dance in the Dark' and 'So Happy I Could Die,' a sensual hit. Then there is 'Telephone' a track with a little help from Beyonce. Her ballad 'Speechless' is a dedication to her father and proves GaGa isn't all beats, and she gets funky on the track 'Teeth'. Go get "The Fame Monster" and see what you're missing.

After being pushed back several times, Shakira's album "She Wolf" is finally being released. Her leading single 'She Wolf' or 'Loba' has been received with mediocre reviews, but still a track that will get stuck in your head. Stand out tracks include 'Men in this Town' a dance track where Shaki is seeking her prince in a world lacking someone for her. 'Did it Again' is her second single which has a catchy chorus and her traditionally breathy vocals, yet sensual, Check out the good video here with a great bed dancing sequence. Finally, 'Give it Up to Me' features Lil Wayne and Timbaland beats makes for a good weekend track.

Tomorrow: go grab these albums and set your holiday travels right!

I want your everything, As long as it’s free

GaGa has done it again with creating a wild, awesome, violently delicious video for her latest single: "Bad Romance". I appreciate her for being a real artist, nothing about her is conforming, but rather innovative, provocative, and fresh. If you feel up to the challenge, watch the video for Bad Romance.

As for my personal favorite of her tracks off the upcoming release: "The Fame Monster" is the album version of "Alejandro" channeling a little Ace of Base.

Eargasm

Tiësto's new album "Kaleidoscope" is an infectious dance album, filled with great collaborations. Artists featured on the album include Nelly Furtado, Tegan and Sarah,Jónsi from Sigur Rós, Kele Okereke from Bloc Party, Tegan & Sara, Emily Haines from Metric, Calvin Harris, Cary Brothers and others. If you're in the mood to move, I urge you to spin some of the tracks, namely "Who Wants to Be Alone," It won't disappoint.

La Musica es Mi Vida

As of late, my mind has been on one thing: Life in the Industry. What industry? The music industry, naturally. As I try to work on school projects, papers, readings, etc. I find myself on a never ending search for new music/music in general. I feel as though I've added a thousand songs to my iPod in the last few weeks. Though it's only the start of October, and the Fall weather is in full force, I'm already on my search for the perfect summer internship in New York. I've contacted Sony, got people talking at Warner and Jive, as well I'm looking into other labels to fill the void that is the industry that I lack being at school.

For now, I want to share some exceptional artists/albums/tracks that I have on repeat, thus require a necessary listen:

William Fitzsimmons is a folk artist with a sound similar to the Cary Brothers, especially with the song "Ride." His smooth voice and hypnotic beats make for Fitzsimmons the perfect Autumn music, while the weather is brisk, and the work is daunting, William's music will instantly gratify your woes. If you are a fan of the musi
c selection in Grey's Anatomy then Fitzsimmons won't disappoint. Along the lines of Bon Iver, Fitzsimmons tracks have been featured in the show at pivotal moments were the music choice is key. Stand out tracks: "It's Not You," "Please Don't Go," and "Even Now."

Lights is a young Canadian songstress with a pop sounding with a hint of synthesizer. Her album 'The Listening' is due out in the states this Tuesday, but already I'm caught up in her infectious sound and Vanessa Carlton sounding, inviting voice. Stand out tracks include: "Ice" where the chorus will have you bumping along, "The Listening" which makes you feel like you're underwater. "River" and "February Air" are great as well.
James Yuill is a British artist that turns folk/indie music into a more electronic spin. He released his album 'Turning Down Water for Air' with a re-mixed album that echoes Thrices' elements album. On the re-mixes Yuill provides us with Earth tracks, more mellow and zen. Then the same tracks in Fire version which are more vibrant and alive. My favorite tracks are remixed and both Earth versions. They are "No Surprise" and "This Sweet Love" Prepare your ears for a listening relaxation.
Royal Wood is a rich sounding gentleman with great lyrics. His tracks invoke emotion and make me want to lie in bed and write down all about my life. My favorite track is "In The Garden" as well as "Juliet" and "Forever Were Tied" and "A Mirror Without"

Now here is a list of tracks of random artists that I can't stop spinning:
"Walking on a Dream" by Empire of the Sun
"Skinny Love" by Bon Iver
"All I Need" by Air
"Turn and Turn Again" by All Thieves
"Signs" by Bloc Party
"Nightminds" by Missy Higgins
"The Acrobat" Johnathan Rice
"Embers' by Just Jack
"Fresh Feeling" by The Eels

Happy Listening.

It's Here.

For your viewing pleasure: The Pre-World Premiere of Mariah Carey's new video "Obsessed" before it airs on 'America's Got Talent' tomorrow night!

Enjoy.

Why You So Obsessed With Me?

MiMi is slated to release her next studio album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" August 25th, and I am pretty excited. For some reason, I love MiMi and all the craziness that ensues with her being. From mental breakdowns circa 2000, to failing in all box office attempts i.e. Glitter and this year's Sundance film Tennessee. Nonetheless, I love everything musically that Mariah has to offer.. and can't deny that I went to "Adventures of MiMi" tour in 2006, and was it good! So until more tracks leak and the album debuts later this summer, cccccheck out Mariah's newest jam 'Obsessed' a track that is catchy, good, and possibly a stab at Eminem? (but who really cares about him anyway.) Also, check Mariah's coverwork for Obsessed....Obsessed with Photoshop? She looks banging.

I Gotta Feeling..

..That tonight's gonna be a good night!

The Black Eyed Pea's are releasing their album "The E.N.D" (review out tomorrow), on Tuesday, and I must say the album is genious! Slated for their next single is "I Gotta Feeling" which is a feel good anthem about having a good time and letting loose..the video depicts just that, and Fergie is looking banging!!
Cccccheck it out:

GaGa is taking over the charts with not only her smash hit album "The Fame," but track after track, she conitnues to be on top. I like to think I brought her to the know around these parts when I leaked 'Just Dance' ages ago before she was all over the map last summer..but what are you going to do!? Here in the states her summer jam is 'LoveGame' video is HOT and scandalous. Overseas she released 'Paparazzi' a favorite of mine, and the Video is EXCELLENT. A mini film that I can watch over and over...turn on your GaGavision:

Since Beyonce is on World Tour, Ms. Kelly has been doing work too. David Guetta, French DJ, asked Kelly to be featured on his track 'When Love Takes Over' which is a dance hit and the video matches. A great track and Kelly makes the video amazing with her looks, vocals, and performance. ccccccheck it out!

So Many Different People.

...is the name of my blog, and part of the lyrics to a song that pretty much describes me and my beliefs perfectly. It's "Different People" by No Doubt, and thanks to my internship at ZHT, I got tickets to the show, as well as being a part of the meet and greet!! No Doubt has been a staple band for me and seeing Gwen on both solo tours was only a tease because I've wanted to see No Doubt as a whole for ages. Last nights show was radddd. Better than expected and making our way onto the floor for the show was even better. Some lyrics of "Different People"

I often think about the world
In which I live today, of animals and plants
And nature's gift set in display
But the most amazing thing
That I've seen in my time

Are all the different people
And all their different minds
And different ways
It would take a lifetime to explain

No one's exactly the same
So many different people

So many different kinds
So many, many, many different people
So many different

Look at me, I'm a person
Look at me, I'm my own person
So many different people
So many different kinds
For better or for worse, different people

....the best part of the night was being able to meet the band. It was a surreal experience and I got a connection with Interscope Records for future reference. Here's a photo of Amy and I with the Band. (more show photos to come!)

Life is Beautiful

Very rarely does a movie trailer affect me, but the new movie "My Sister's Keeper" gives me chills everytime I see it. The film is adapted from a novel of the same name. It is the story of a family who has a daughter with cancer and a genetically conceived daughter (who was born to help her sister.) The story looks beautiful and when I see the preview I want to be a better person and help everyone. Watch the story unfold and become moved.

And for your music viewing pleasure, the Premiere of Beyonce's newest single "Ego"....enjoy!

Abnormally Attracted To Tori..

This past week several albums have released that are noteworthy. Firstly, Miss CiCi or Ciara released "Fantasy Ride." Now I'm not going to lie, I had heard several tracks over the past year like "Go Girl" and "Never Ever" that I wasn't too impressed with, but she delivers on some other dance hits. She lacks (as do most hip hop artists) on the slow jams. They weren't really my favorite, but some tracks worth getting down to/ adding to your gym playlist include: "Pucker up" where CiCi shouts-

Just kiss, just kiss my, Why don't you just kiss my (swagg) (pucker up)
Other tracks include "Turntables" ft. Chris Brown, "High Price" ft. Ludacris, my favorite jam "Work" ft. Missy Elliot (1, 2, step part two?!) and "G is for Girl (A-Z).

The next week released two good albums from some of my favorite artists. Tori Amos released "Abnormally Attracted to Sin" which is EXCELLENT. All tracks are worth the listen, but some stand-outs include: "Welcome to England," "Ophelia," and title track "Abnormally Attracted to Sin."

Mat Kearney released his sophomore album "Ci
ty of Black and White" which is a great follow up to "Nothing Left to Lose" which I'm pretty sure I listened to ALL the time. "Never Be Ready," "All I Have," "Closer to Love," and "Runaway Car" are worth the listen for sure!

Some singles you should check out are: "Imma Be" by Black Eyed Peas. (About time for a replacement to Boom Boom Pow.) "No Boundaries" by Kris Allen- for some reason I love it. "Battlefield" by Jordin Sparks, young love, enough said. and my guilty pleasure "Don't Stop Believin'" by the Glee Cast----ON REPEAT! It's good!

Guess Who's Back

After a brief hiatus here:

I'm BACK and ready to update your lives with the latest in style.

Music Video Mayhem

...This post is dedicated to some new videos that have caught my attention.

......The first video is by James Morrison. His voice is smooth and soulful. The song is "You Make it Real," released last fall, but you can never get enough of a good thing. So sit back, relax, and let the buttery voice of James ensue...

You Make It Real

.....For more soul and R&B, my man Ne-Yo continues to make excellent videos to coincide with his lryics. The song "Part of the List" and the video is a prequel to "Mad," a video definitley worth the watch! The video is like a mini film, and as always, Ne-Yo delivers...

Ne-Yo - Part Of The List

.....next up in the music video gala is none other than former Pop Tart turned indie, gone alterna-pop. The song, "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week" is being released just in time for spring and summer. A bouncy song that shows how happy Mandy is post marriage to Ryan Adams. The video, not so great, so this one is more for the song.

Finally, back to another K. Clarkson jam "I Do Not Hook Up." Penned by Katy Perry and Kara DioGuardi. The song is catchy and the video is fun. Granted, the theme is Clarkson trying to be sexy (which let's be real, she's not really.) But she does what she can and it's enjoyable...So check out some wedding crashing and bar dancing below.

Destiny (almost) Fulfilled

I need a Soldier.

They parted ways several years ago, but now they are coming together again. When they went on their "Destiny Fulfilled" tour, Destiny's Child was dunzo. However, they are now going to be making another album. Apparently the girls owe Columbia Records one more album as stated in their contract. Since Ms. B is on a World Tour, which started last week, Destiny's Child new album is slated to be released in 2011.....Are you ready for more jelly?

Where the WILD Things Are.

I just wanted to state my excitement over two things that are both wild...

The first is Ciara ft. Justin Timberlake's new video for "Love, Sex, Magic." The video is excellent, epitomizing sex appeal and funk. Not to mention the collaboration is HOT! So...if you dare to get wild.....ccccccccheck it below!

On another WILD note...One of my FAVORITE books as a kid "Where the Wild Things Are" has been made into a movie, and THIS is your EXCLUSIVE premiere of the preview before it the theatrical trailer hits theaters this weekend....Get Wild!
